Review of The Musketeer (2001) by Abel D — 14 Jan 2014
Right from the start let me get something very clear. This kind of films are hard to criticize because they try to do new with old stuff. In one way it's a good thing because most of the time nothing is really new we just give a new version or a new interpretation of things.
This film never claims to be a history tale or even a period drama. It's a pure action flick with amazing stunts & really well shot battle scenes set in the 16th century during the Musketeer time.
Of course it's dumb as fuck but who cares everyone looks pretty , the fights are perfectly well choreographed by Xin xin Xiong & the cast seem to have the time of their life working on such a highly enjoyable guilty pleasure.
As an audience let's face it we all love a good old anything goes type of entertainment.... and in it's category this one succeeds extraordinarily!
