Review of The Music Never Stopped (2011) by Michael W — 19 Mar 2011
I liked this film. Although there is a certain simple starkness to the cinematography, it is a rich film with many new "classic" witty lines in it. Acting and story is good. No reason not to bring kids or social friends to it.
The family, the times and the situation seem honestly real and easy to identify with. I would have opted for a deeper selection of Dead tracks my self but perhaps that would've alienated some. It is a bit old-fashioned, not merely because of its setting and the middle class values of the time, but because of its Hallmark style plot denouement, which I find to be quite satisfying and suitably touching.
This is a fine film with very good acting by all, but especially by J.K. Simmons.
