Review of The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) by Timothy N — 23 Dec 2011
While I had seen bits and pieces of "The Muppet Christmas Carol" over the last couple decades, this was my first official viewing of the whole film. While I enjoyed it and it's lighthearted and warm family atmosphere, it wasn't the best of the Muppet films.
It makes for a good and family friendly viewing around the Holidays with enough adult humor to keep it entertaining to all ages. Michael Caine is Ebenezer Scrooge and gives a well done performance and transforms from the humbug spouting villain to the town's personal Santa Claus! While there are many Christmas and Holiday themed films that make for better traditional viewings, this will be a fine watch in the month of December if the opportunity presents itself.
The musicals, while clearly Muppet portrayals are fun and most are catchy, suit the film, and most importantly add replay value to the movie.
