Review of The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) by Phil P — 27 Dec 2012
"Humbug".
I don't have a traditional film in watch each year at Christmas like most do. I tend to just watch whatever's on - but this is the 2nd year in a row I've watched this film and I think it'll be my 'tradition'. I'm not fond of christmas films they get too cheesy and sentimental for my liking - incredibly cringe worthy springs to mind.
But 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' I like - in fact I'd say it's great. There's no point in explaining the story everyone knows it. But it comes with a 'Muppet' twist with their patented brand of comedy. 'Gonzo' narrates the story up to the point where the ghosts appear. 'Caine' is 'Scrooge' and as expected puts in a fine performance.
I don't need to say anymore its a classic in most peoples eyes and I'd almost be incline to agree with them. Its undoubtedly a fine film but it isn't funny enough for my liking. I don't have any problems with the film as such. Its just not constantly brilliant - but it never dips and will no doubt keep your attention.
