Review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) by Blæke W — 15 Sep 2010

Well I thought this was awesome, way better than the other couple (although the original is still the best) it had it all, except Rachael Weise.

In the begining I thought it was a dam documentory on befor the main feature having seen the trailor so long befor, but as allways it slurred past fact and legend to a suprisingly.

'low budget' begining (was all through seemingly now I recall kinda cheap looking) but it was more comical and CGI had come along way in just those seven years. Lacking in 'classic archaic mummy story' though incorperates supernatural elements from the 'far east' utilizing a 'teracotta army' of mummies and the all important vast numbers of zombies raised from dead to oppose the evil emperor and terracotta soldiers. It wasnt too fast paced but did jump around quite a bit.

My gripe would have to be with the (following suit with TheDarkNight aswell in places) the fighting sequences set up for super slow replay, visually enchanting and does not detract from motion momentum but... (I`d imagine to keep the fanatics impressed) didn't need it. But to my approoval the closeups of the morfing the villian 'Jet Li' becomes/has, (without giving too much away). A violent array of shots diclosing nothing more other than the stimulated imagination can possibly generate in the midst of the battle or recoil at each display. Heaps fast, so bring chockie ect... Besides the morfing there was unexpected extra does of animae characters in the form of a few large'ish monsters, (better let you see for yourself) ...that was a welcoming unintrusive piece of eye candy for the aneme co-star following.

Good to see an odds on underdog to carry this next installment through as a succesfull contrast to the other two smash hits, this was (umm not really), but very very good all the same. I`d say 'better than...' but am quite bias for the classic motion picture 'mummy' story. lol . . enjoy.
