Review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) by Elizabeth-Liz T — 16 Apr 2012
Shorter than the other Mummy films, this one still feels boring and drawn out. Adequate performances and fun special effects can't sustain a silly script and a story better suited for a direct to video throwaway than a summer blockbuster.
However, Michelle Yeoh, as usual, is radiant in her (all too brief) scenes, and the fight between her and Jet Li is marred only by too much cutting. Li himself is adequate in a role shared by computer generated rocks (he's better than the cg, but not given a chance to really show off).
All in all, a disappointing night at the movies, following Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Wanted, Hellboy II, and even The Incredible Hulk (it's better than Journey to the Center of the Earth, though).
