Review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) by Movie K — 09 Jun 2012

I didn't have high expectations for this movie. It isn't that bad but this is the weakest among the trilogy. John Hannah funny and witty antics are missing great deal here. Jet Li is mostly in CGI format.

Overall good CGI but lacking in better action. Michelle Yeoh is a sorceress and she like army general Russell Wong. Jet Li is evil emperor and he kill the general and Michelle. But she has curse him and his army to turn into clay.

Brendan Fraser & wife Maria Bello is enjoying life. Maria publish 2 books about her adventures. Their son has grown up (Luke Ford) and he embark his own adventure, finding the terra cotta army burial ground.

He open the secret door and found the emperor. Then an assassin (Isabella Leong) fights him but he manage to fight her off. The emperor chamber rise to the ground to join with the army. The government ask the couple to transport a diamond Eye of Shangri-La back to China as good faith.

They were pretending not interested but still accept it. They use it as a chance to visit John who open a club in China. Luke is smitten by a woman in there and John advise him not to go. Liam Cunningham beat him out of the room.

Brendan come to his rescue and find out Liam is his old time friend. Luke is not on good terms with the folks. Anthony Wong is army general and he plan to resurrect evil emperor. He want to steal the Eye of Shangri-La from the family.

Luke is going to showcase the emperor to the public. Brendan hand over the diamond to old friend David Calder but he works with Anthony. Luke follow Isabella and saw the commotion. The baddies cut Maria finger for pure good blood to open the diamond.

Isabella swing to knock the blood which splash onto the emperor. The corpse lying in the coffin isn't emperor. Evil emperor Jet is alive but still in clay form. Luke and Isabella cling at the bottom of carriage.

Anthony shot Isabella but she isn't hurt. All chase him but are defeated by Jet. He have to drink from the fountain of eternal life which the diamond will lead them to. Isabella says her family guard the tomb for centuries and she has a dagger that can kill Jet.

She bring them to the temple as she been there before, to fight the baddies. They get Liam help for airplane transport. Anthony's army attack them at the fountain. Isabella calls upon Yeti to fight the army.

Jet roar drive off the Yeti and he place the diamond on the temple top to see direction of fountain. Luke try to throw a dynamite at Jet and he throw a knive. Brendan block it for him. The dynamite activate avalanche and blow Jet and diamond away.

The Yeti cover the good guys. John got the diamond. Isabella bring them to home. Her mother is Michelle. Brendan is save by the fountain water. Yeti save Michelle and bring her to the fountain hence she live and mourn for her dead lover for centuries.

Isabella is 2000 over years old. Jet and Anthony arrive at the fountain and he dip into the fountain, become 3 headed dragon. He catch Isabella away. At the old camp, Jet awaken his army. Once they cross the great wall, they will be indestructible.

Michelle use spell to wake the dead soldiers led by dead general Russell. Terra cotta army fire arrows at the dead but they can't die. Both sides clash it out. Jet defeated Michelle but she manage to take the dagger from him.

Luke save Isabella from captive. Michelle pass the dagger to her before die. John drop a bomb from the plane and landed on Anthony jeep. Brendan and Luke fight Jet but isn't his match. He break the dagger.

Each take one end and tag team, pierce the dagger into Jet heart and he perish. Isabella and Luke can be together since she is mortal now. The club is sold to Liam and John left to Peru with the diamond.
