Review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) by Matthew D — 05 Jul 2018
Dated, but entertaining.
A too long sequel that rehashes the first 2 movies with lots of references and lame scenarios. The dialogue is all terribly written. The direction is okay in appearance, but it cannot save what's on screen.
Cast wise, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh are very entertaining, but The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is an inferior movie to the first movie. I do like how this film is shot, but it has it's issues. Furthermore, Brendan Fraser is still fun in a campy way, but he cannot act. Maria Bello unfortunately has to replace the absent Rachel Weisz, but she is no shoe filler. John Hannah is still funny at least. It's a real mixed bag.
I would say this is a terrible movie, but it is so bland you can only watch it and hope it ends soon.
