Review of The Mummy (2017) by Artful ? — 02 Jan 2018
Going in to this, I had a lot of excitement. Excitement that was quickly dashed. This movie's a mess. It always feels like a marketing strategy first and a movie second (sometimes a distant second).
Tom Cruise is badly miscast in one of the worst films of his career. If you're bored and want to see a summer popcorn flick, it might be mildly satisfying. This is a disposable romp that, and I hate to write this, actually pales next to the '99 "The Mummy", which is a lot better than people give it credit for.
At least that was fun. This is just a drag.
