Review of The Mummy (2017) by Kit S — 12 Jun 2017
This is a good movie. It's just getting ripped apart by critics who want the movie to be some artsy piece it's not trying to be and audiences who expect it to be like the Fraser "originals" which aren't even the originals. That, and herd mentality make for a lethal combination. Funny how the previous trilogy was also destroyed critically and now it's apparently some beloved classic...
Anyway, it has exactly what the universal monster films should have: humor, adventure, Brian Tyler's best score yet, fantastic set design, a few scares, Sofia and Crowe NAIL their roles, Jake Johnson is hilarious, it's a great introduction to prodigium, god tier Easter Eggs, etc.
Bring on the Dark Universe!
