Review of The Mummy (2017) by Tor Z — 06 Jun 2017
It's a real modern take on it! The world has changed since the early 2000 s a lot! Wars are a fact on the middle East, terrorism at it's peak, technology, and posting a picture online it's now a worldwide matter! All that it's truthfully and successfully represented in this take.
A mummy out on the world it's not something that would be easily overlooked today, nor the 2000s or the 30s. So this movie triumphs the others easily in that aspect, where apparently no one outside a museum or a tomb would ever be bothered by a supernatural force.
The photography is beautiful, the acting is more than on point and it's only week point it's that it feels a bit rushed. This was after all the start of a movie universe. It's not like the first Iron Man that spawned a universe.
This was not not meant to be an isolated story, this is meant to present origins and other stories as well already so for those who didn't understand that concept before the movie start will feel a little lost, but if you know what you are in for it's really a success!
