I think maybe I just couldn't get past Cruz. He is duster than the mummy these days and for some reason it doesn't work for me the same way as it does with Harrison Ford. It feels a little disparate for him to still be trying to be the action hero.
Maybe it was just that the Brendan Fraser version was too iconic to be re-imagined. Despite the visuals, maybe this mummy just should have remained buried.
