Review of The Mummy (2017) by Jon A — 20 Oct 2017
Stellar action pieces. One in particular where they are driving an ambulance through a forest with zombies chasing them. It makes no sense but it's top notch action filmmaking. Ie heart pumping and engrossing.
Problem is, unlike his mission impossible films, cruise is held up and sat down to be explained exposition for a few different parts. There was a great action film here. But they really wanted to work in de Jekyll so badly.
It cost em big. I immediately watched pirates of the Caribbean 5 after this, and the maturity of disneys franchise skills shows. Or maybe universals immaturity. Either way, the mummy isn't bad. It doesn't deserve 16%.
It's skilllfully shot action merits at least 50%. But they should have focused ON THE MUMMY.
