Review of The Mummy (1999) by David M — 03 Mar 2013
First and best of the 3 Mummy films (4 if you include The Scorpion King), with Brendan Fraser as a very Indiana Jones-a-like hero!
I remember going to see this in the cinema when it first came out, and I remember that they had a notice up in the foyer saying something along the lines of that although it was a '15' certificate, some of the scenes were quite gruesome. I think it's a safe bet they were talking about the prologue, where Imhotep and his priests are mummified alive. Oh, and Rachel Weisz (as Evelyn) is in a different league altogether than Maria Bello who would take on the same role in the third Mummy film.
