Review of The Motorcycle Diaries (2004) by Jonathan A — 29 May 2008
Interesting if not somewhat overlong look at the early lives of Che Guevara and Alberto Granado who embark on a road trip that dramatically changes their idealism. Wonderful acting from the leads and scriptwriting; the evolution of Guevera's activism is incendiary like water coming to a boil.
This is also one of the films that I can truly say has a "documentary-like" feel to it, the presentation is immaculate and there's a certain rawness to it that gives a sensibility similar to that of the better coming-of-age films I've experienced in my lifetime.
