Review of The Most Dangerous Game (1932) by Catherine R — 29 Aug 2009
This movie was made concurrently with "King Kong", using the same sets, the same lead actress (Fay Wray), one of the same directors (Ernest B. Schoedsack), and a much lower budget. Everyone knows that "Kong" is a great film, but this relatively unknown one is even better in my book.
It's the first of many, many film adaptations of the Richard Connell story and it's still the best, although two sex-crazed European versions (Michel Lemoine's "Les week-ends mal©fiques du Comte Zaroff" and Jess Franco's "La comtesse perverse" deserve a mention).
