Review of The Mosquito Coast (1986) by Holly C — 03 Aug 2008
After watching this film again, it becomes clear that this bizarre yet compelling film is a must see. Everyone has their own ideas about what paradise really is, and essentially that is what this film is about.
Harrison Ford is outstanding in his role as Allie Fox. He shows the transitions between an exxentric and dogmatic inventor to a deluded and dangerous man in a compelling way. Although the film can be seen as a bit 'slow' at times, alot happens in the two hours.
A whole family unit falls apart, and River Phoenix's performance is equally as compelling as Harrison Fords. Together they make a great pair. This really is a must see (:
