Review of The Mosquito Coast (1986) by Jack G — 01 Jul 2010
A film that, in all actuality, pulls a Herzog: a man has a wild dream- to go into the jungle and make ice out of fire (his creative invention)- and takes his family with him. At the same time, it gives Ford some of his richest acting work, a mix of Klaus Kinski, Daniel Plainview, and just your average American (Genius) Dick.
It has some flaws, but it's also brave and immensely entertaining when it wants to be; Andre from My Dinner with Andre plays a Reverend.
