2/5★ Its all very adequate, but it feels...indulgent. Its not a bad film just dull, and with a story that is actually quite interesting, I wonder what a better director could have done with it. The tone is proudly old-fashioned and there is a mini-series feel, a splintered focus on too many characters and locations.
Despite a fantastic cast, Cate Blanchett is the only actor who gives a serious performance.
Verdict: For a really rainy day.
