Review of The Monuments Men (2014) by Delphinus C — 30 May 2014
Ineffectual. Is how I would describe this movie. It's neither particularily good, nor bad.
My ongoing interest was not because of a gripping story, nor deeply engaging character, nor curiosity of "how does it end?" I merely kept watching because it was already playing, and I didn't feel like doing anything else.
Also, I do love Bill Murray, and John Goodman, heck most of those guys are all-right in my book.
There's too many main characters, and not enough personal time with any of them to spark a real connection. Which is somehow unbefitting for a war movie.
On the other hand I suppose it's not truly a war movie either.
Technicals of this one all range from average to slightly-above-average. Nothing specific to mention.
There were some interestingly comedic set-pieces along the way, which certainly help keep it alive. It's the in-between parts that drag on if you're trying to give it your full attention.
A fine movie to watch while you're doing something else.
