Review of The Monuments Men (2014) by Tristan M — 13 Jun 2014
I can't say I expected much from this one, mostly because of poor reviews and trailer. The idea is good, something that unless you've seen the movie, you would never have known that it had ever happened.
So it's original, but it's full I so many cliches that it takes away from it. The story is interesting, but much too slow paced and uneventful. There almost no action, which isn't a problem, but it's something this movie could have used more of.
The acting isn't all that great, and neither is the script. And the way that they try to add comedy to the movie is an epic failure. It's all just dumb jokes that are straight up not funny, and other failed humor that just don't at all belong in this sort of movie.
So overall it's pretty dull, and although it was a short movie, it felt long. With the original plot it could have been much better, but to achieve it the movie would have to be totally redone. Not recommended other than to say you've seen it.
