Review of The Monster That Challenged the World (1957) by Mara B — 27 Nov 2011
W/ the combination of great poster art, an engaging title & being released by MGM's Midnight Movies The Monster That Challenged the World was one of those films that should have been something special in the B movie echelons.
More often then not it's all marketing & the actual product can't live up to expectations. It's too bad that it's the wrap around isn't interesting or good enough to put it on the level of something like Them or bad enough to have a kitsch factor.
It's mostly a case of B monster design that's not bad but not enough to support it. I wish it was more fun then it was because I did everything right by watching it @ midnight w/ a couple of brews.
Watch it if you're a completest for this type of flix but there are dozens better & worthy of your attention.
