Review of The Monster Squad (1987) by Brendan N — 23 Dec 2012
Playing out like the goonies this fun throwback to the eighties is well made. Initially ignored upon release this has slowly developed a cult following over the years. The film is full of ham acting but that really is the point if the film, stan winston creates some of the classic monsters and has a lot of fun doing it.
The universal creatures are great fun to see in the one film and it's the interesting cast that keep things moving. The film is fun and one of the underrated films to come out of the eighties. If you enjoy fun genre films then you'll thoroughly enjoy this. It's a shame this film failed to find audience as a sequel could of been quite interesting.
