Frank Darabont is a great director and writer, and I was suprised to find out he would direct something like this. This is a horro in different ways. There are monsters here, but they're not scary, and they look really fake - the special effects weren't so good.

The horror aspect comes from the nature of the people who are stuck in this supermarket. It shows how desperate some people can get when fear takes over. Some of the themes here are really powerful. The acting's good.

Thomas Jane wasn't that great, but Nathan Gamble was excellent as the Billy. The ending is so climatic and it's really tragic. There are some bad elements here, like the way the mist came - that storyline was handled really poorly.

But the shock horrors good, and there are moments of blood and gore which should please the horror crowd. It's good with the drama, but it's not a perfect horror film.
