Review of The Mist (2007) by Sai A — 21 Oct 2012
The ability to scare and make the audience question the possibilities have always been the hallmarks of the horror genre. With the Mist however, Frank Darabont did more than just bring the already-brilliant source material to life.
Coupled with smooth production and a truly unique aura of mystery and suspense, the Mist is also a poignant commentary on the nature of human will, good versus evil, and religion against reason. The conflicts in horror films are often external forces, and while this movie has plenty the ultimate clash (as depicted in one of the saddest movie endings of the millennium to date) occurs internally.
