Review of The Mission (1986) by Tim G — 11 Nov 2008
Interesing glimpse into little taught, little known history (us Americans sure are US-centric of course) of colonial Brazil, and how the Spanish and the Portuguese fought for control of the land, and its indigenous people, not to mention the missionaries caught in the middle.
Richly deserved Oscar (or just nominated, can't recall) for cinematograpy. A quality cast, but the film barely registered a blip on the ol' excitementometer.
