The set and the costumes are awesome. The music is phenomenal. Most of the acting is great. However, this film has aged! Due to the narrative based format, it comes across as if it's in acts (like in a play) rather than flowing like a film ought to.
Most of the Brit actors are excellent...unfortunately this shows De Niro to be seriously out of his depth. When he's not speaking, he'd decent enough, but when he is it's awful. Ah well, its an old film, and worth a watch still.
..if nothing else for the score and the set.
