Review of The Misfits (1961) by Lawrence W — 29 Jun 2007
What a classic - one finally gets a chance to see Monroe, and even Gable, act. Just watch Monroe's eyes and they say everything. It's hard to sum up what this movie is about (except the possible comparison of Gable trying to tame the wild horses - both the four legged and two legged kind) and how you feel at the end (kind of drained, with an ounce of hope, but you know they won't be together forever) so I think one should see it for themselves. Such a gift this was from her then hubby - Arthur Miller. Sadly this was her last completed film and Gable was dead two weeks later as well.
They don't make films like this anymore and never will I'm afraid.
