Review of The Misfits (1961) by Senh D — 15 Sep 2004
Ok, there are apparently a couple more Marilyn Monroe movies in my queue on Netflix.
This one also stars Clark Gable. Monroe and Gable both died shortly after making this film. Marilyn's acting is actually more natural in this than her previous films where her acting is kinda stylized. She also plays a more realistic person and is a bit more serious and moody. She seems to have gained a noticable amount of weight, but she still has nice curves. The director shows that off quite overtly in a paddle ball sequence (I will never think of paddle ball the same again). Still, it's not my kind of movie. I know what the director is trying to do, but the film still meanders. And with no humor, a directionless, somber movie is kinda hard to watch.
