Review of The Miracle Worker (1962) by Jeremiah H — 05 Aug 2008
Its a bit melodramatic at times. But technically it beautifully filmed. The first image we see of Helen is her shadow. Slowly we see her hand, then her torso searching the wall and the banister. But we never see her face.
This image tells us all about her state of being without a single word. The first fight between Anne and Helen is hilarious and manic and exhausting just to watch. Then its juxtaposed by a simple, stoic shot of Helen in her mother's arms who is crying because Helen folded her napkin.
I could go on and on.
