Review of The Million Dollar Hotel (2000) by Mary A — 25 Jan 2009

I surprised myself by really liking this film. I can see why many people accuse it being pretentious with annoying characters.. but I have a soft spot for Jeremy Davies and his oddball roles. Mel Gibson was average in his role, while Milla Jovovich was captivating-especially in her scenes with Jeremy Davies.

It's difficult to make a movie about people with mental illness without being harshly scrutinized-but I'd say this film did a good job balancing the sad drama and comedy of these particular characters' lives.
