Review of The Mill and the Cross (2011) by Katie W — 21 Apr 2012
This is not a film with a typical narrative structure, it is Bruegel's sparse narration that ties the excerpts of peoples lives together through his construction of his painting "The Way to Calvary".
Beautifully filmed, and very absorbing, despite the lack of dialogue, this is a film that sucks you right into the artwork itself, by exploring the everyday lives of the people Bruegel used to populate his painting.
