Kitamura is a great director, and worked really closely with Clive Barker on this one. It's a great horror film, would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that in several scenes the CGI detracted from the atmosphere of the film.
However, I've seen much worse CGI...it just was a little too obvious and seemed out of place.
