Review of The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) (2017) by Facebook U — 16 Oct 2017
A thoughtful and funny collage of moments that happen around a fictional family that feels incredibly nonfictional. I don't know anything about what went into writing the screenplay for "Meyerowitz Stories," but it felt a lot like Baumbach's earlier film, "The Squid and the Whale," and with that one being largely autobiographical, I have no difficulties believing the authenticity in this film came from inspiration drawn from the same collection of memories.
The entire cast is phenomenal, and it was great to see Adam Sandler in a meaty role again. And despite this being a film made to stream on Netflix, I would love to buy a BluRay copy for some commentary and higher quality visuals.
This is a wonderful movie.
