Review of The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) (2017) by Paul N — 04 May 2018
This movie explores the struggles of adult children to find their place in a complex family headed by a self-absorbed father. The plot was compelling, exploring the relationships through a series of events we all expect but may not be ready for.
Characters were well developed, although not overly likeable. The major problem, however, was that the performances were wooden to the point of being distracting, despite entirely cast with outstanding actors.
Humor was in there but kept to a minimum, again despite the presence of great comedic actors. Sadly, I felt like I was watching robots half of the time. Perhaps this was a conscious stylistic choice, but it was disappointing to me.
