I first have to say that I know very little about the story of Joan of Arc. Therefore, I can't really comment on how much artistic license was used. I thought the filming was good, as was the dialogue.
It did make her seem a little crazy, which was not how I had pictured her. Also, there was a bit of gore. Although I was fine with it, not sure how necessary it all was.
