Review of The Messenger (2009) by Geoff T — 20 May 2010
This is a very moving film thanks to genuine, authentic writing and powerhouse acting by Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson. Many scenes will move you, and there is a lot of quiet, subtle things going on here.
This isn't a movie with a lot of talking or yelling; people have particular expressions and you need to know what they're thinking based on that. Every once in awhile, they actually bring down their respective barriers and act like fallible, emotional beings.
It makes for fascinating studying of character, and powerful filmmaking.
