Review of The Messenger (2009) by Cliff M — 02 Jun 2010
A story about 2 former soldiers assigned to the Army's Casualty Notification Service. Even though it isn't real, the scenes are hard to watch as they are clearly based on real life situations. I couldn't imagine having to do this for a living, it's so depressing.
Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson both give great performances. It's like they took a documentary and made it into a movie, however it makes more of an observation rather than a statement, so you don't feel like the motivation of the movie is a political one.
Not exactly a fast paced movie, but at times emotional. Worth a watch.
