Review of The Messenger (2009) by Alex W — 26 Jan 2014
One of the most intense well acted movies out there. Harrelson got the oscar nom for his performance but I think Ben foster deserves most of the credit for his. This is very difficult to watch and usually a movie with this many heart wrenching scenes I would call over the top melodrama but it completely works within the context of their job.
Also Steve Buscemi has to be mentioned for his small but unforgeable role. A good film about the darker side of war that dosen't feel like its going out of its way to make a statement (like many recent war films) but just feels honest.
god ben foster is great.
