The Messenger biggest accomplishment is to put the viewer in the characters shoes, while they stand uncomfortably in front of a family and deliever maybe the worst new they'll ever get. While not a tearjacker, it stills goes deep and gives Foster and Harrelson a chance to show their dramatic talent.
