Review of The Messenger (2009) by Jonathan K — 04 Dec 2010
The best thing going for The Messenger is the acting. stellar jobs done by both leads as well as the host of supporting cast. the story feels very real and in all likelihood is exactly how military death notifications play out in real life.
the notification scenes are heart-wrenching. one of my favorite things about this film is that it isn't stuck on the love story between Sgt. Montgomery and Samantha Morton's character, but instead is mostly about the lives of two post-war military men and their symbiotic relationship.
