Review of The Messenger (2009) by Ceph J — 01 Jun 2010
I'm glad I saw this movie and the depiction of soldiers who have to give bad news to surving family members of fallen soldiers. The biggest revelation is the superb casting of Ben Foster (not very well known but who gives hearfelt performances in all his movies) as a conflicted soldier.
Granted, I felt his friendship with Samantha Morton as a widow was forced and their scenes didn't really click with me. However, the acting is excellent including Woody Harrelson as a veteran "messenger.
