Review of The Message (1976) by Lucky R — 24 Mar 2009
Despite the subject matter, overall, was an interesting movie. Though I feel that the portrayal of Muhammad was a bit too "innocent", the acting was decent nonetheless.
I thought it very interesting how the Christian King of Ethiopia demands of Muhammad's followers (who fled to Abyssinia from Mecca to escape persecution) what he (Muhammad) and the Koran say who Jesus Christ is after hearing they denied Him as God's only Son. Instead of giving a straight-forward answer, they just regurgitate the story of Jesus' birth instead and sadly, the king buys it as a reasonable answer.
Regardless, it is interesting to see such a significant contrast between the early Moslems and the Moslems of today. Quite a difference, though I'm not sure how accurate the movie portrays them. I guess I'll have to do more research and find out myself.
Good movie, especially if you're curious on how Islam first come about.
