Review of The Menu (2022) by Lamz0D — 03 Jan 2023
Good concept, just poorly executed. The intrigue only degraded as it went on until it just became nonsensical. I was somewhat invested until about halfway through. Poor choice for the male lead (beast douche). Ralph was the only real saving grace but since his character wasn’t fully realized he was underutilized and so the whole thing fell flat. Other reviewers go further in-depth about it and with them I agree—just an undefined antagonist and otherwise poor character work. It all felt so unsatisfactory at the end. I found it ironic and more entertaining to think that perhaps that was the point of the story (although it wasn’t).
Again, for the first third of the movie I thought it was going to be much better. It’s a shame it couldn’t follow through.
