Review of The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009) by Ben H — 17 Mar 2011
This is a totally underated movie that didn't get enough recognition when it first came out. I mean sure it gets a little too silly at the end, but it has such a great cast, an awesome script, terrific performances, and a rockin' soundtrack just to cap the jar.
Each actor acts just how you would expect them to act, Jeff Bridges is Jeff Bridges, George Clooney is George Clooney, and Kevin Spacey...need I say more? I saw this for the same reason I think everyone else saw it, because it looked like a Coen Brothers movie, and this actually comes close. It's pretty silly and can get a little too silly at times but you go along with how silly it is because of how comfortable you are with these characters and because of how entertaining the whole thing is. Everyone looks like there having alot of fun playing a part in it even behind the camera and I would actually like to see some behind the scenes footage to see just how much fun they were having. It doesn't try to be an Oscar contender or any kind of classic, it's just...a movie and a really good one.
It may not be for everyone, but I love it and I still laugh to myself thinking about how much fun I had watching it.
Highly reccomend.
