Review of The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009) by Jay L — 11 May 2011
"Now more than ever, we need to be all that we can be. Now more than ever, we need the Jedi.".
A strange one here, similar to, but not nearly as good as some of the Coen Brothers work. Director Grant Hezlov assembled a spectacular cast that didn't disappoint, but the story was just a but too strange for me. The Men Stare At Goats is a quirky mind trip into the semi true story of a secret branch of the military that claimed psychic power could be weaponized, and therefore used as an asset. It has a few laughs, but one that I wont be watching again anytime soon.
The cast was extraordinary, making this film all the more stranger. With excellent performances from George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Spacey and Stephen Lang.
