Review of The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009) by Jason M — 24 Dec 2011
This is a film that I've wanted to see for a long time but I even though I very much wanted to see this, I was a bit reluctant because of Burn After Reading, which starred George Clooney, but was a flop in my opinion.
In this movie Clooney plays an ex member of the New Earth Army, Lyn Cassady, that claims to be on a mission to find his old commander, Bill Django (Jeff Bridges). Ewan McGregor plays reporter Bob Wilton, who decides to go to Kuwait to join the Iraqis, after his wife leaves him for her editor.
This film shows many flashbacks when Lyn was under command in the New Earth Army with Bill Django, his commanding officer and Larry Hooper (Kevin Spacey), who is about as spineless as they come. A great film, that even though at times it may seem meaningless, is a film that tells a tale about a grand expedition and the pitfalls that come with it.
Great performances in this from Clooney, McGregor, Bridges and Spacey.
