Hokey as heck and meant to be just escapism. The intrepid and indestructible Jason Statham leads the way here with his frenetic and charismatic schtick. The interplay and humor among the characters works well amidst the shark carnage.
But oh that beach scene! Why not just have Spielberg come onto the screen and say hey! I did this one 40 years ago! Overall, one of these movies that you know is cheesy as can be but you are pretty much completely engaged wondering what's going to happen next.
