Review of The Meg (2018) by John A — 25 Aug 2018
The Meg had lots of action and interesting underwater subs and a really big shark, unfortunately that's al, it had. The storyline was a little boring, the characters were uninteresting (you were almost glad to see the shark take them out!), they had a very un-intelligent shark that didn't do anything but swimming around, the meg was a missed opportunity.
It would have been more interesting had the shark attacked the research platform the scientists were living on, get the people to really fight for their lives as the place slowly sank and flooded or the shark taking on navy ships or terrorising more people, when they were tagging the shark in the ocean, you could of been easily have thought you were watching a shark documentary on the discovery channel! In the end the star of the movie was a really big shark that didn't do anything!, the producers of the meg, could not even kill it in an interesting way at the end.
A cast of unknowns with no story, a big shark but really good special effects, The Meg really should have been a straight to DVD release. The Meg has also achieved one other thing, it's made the Sharknado movies look like intelligent sophisticated movies.
!. The Meg is another missed opportunity in a sea of creature attack movies, the type of movie you watch on a rainy day when there is nothing better to watch on tv! Try as hard as it can but it's just another version of Matthew Broderick's godzillla but swimming in the ocean.
