Review of The Meg (2018) by Tyler N — 09 Aug 2018
As a big fan of the book by Steve Alten I have been waiting for this movie for many years. As with most movies based on novels I expected changes. Perhaps not quite as many as there are but expected nonetheless.
As a stand alone movie The Meg is highly entertaining and a lot of fun. Sure there's some cheesy dialogue and a few pointless characters but ignoring all that what's not to love about a 75ft shark terrorising the sea's.
The CGI is pretty decent and Statham is solid in the lead role. Don't go in expecting chapter and verse from the novels and for goodness sake DO NOT go in comparing it to or basing your opinions on it against Jaws.
They are two massively different movies similiar only in that they have a giant shark as the main protagonist. Overall I enjoyed it and would definitely watch it again. Hope there's a sequel down the line!
